CEDR Corporate Consulting: Developing Competent and Qualified Workforce
The industry training arm of our Group, SIT Corporate Learning Centre Sdn Bhd is now known as CEDR Corporate Consulting Sdn Bhd (CEDR). CEDR, the acronym for Competency Excellence in Development and Research reflects the direction and vision of the company.

In addition, CEDR originates from ‘Cedar’, a tree found mostly in Lebanon and temperate countries, which signifies leadership, strength, durability, reliability and multiple uses. This tree is much sought after for its wood to build religious and civil structures as well as its properties for fragrance and medicinal purposes. It is very shady, ornamental and usually a focal point in large lawns.

CEDR’s edge and expertise lies in its competency development and modeling for human resource, a most important asset in business. It has pioneered the use of competency-based training and education to upgrade the quality of training and development of human resources.

The company is committed to developing competent and qualified workforce for Malaysian industries. To achieve this, it has formed a strategic alliance with the Department of Further Education, Employment, Science and Technology, South Australia (DEFEEST) which comprises 10 DEFEEST institutes offering more than 300 vocational / technical training programmes using the competency-based approach.

Since 1996, CEDR has been the only non-Australian training provider granted accreditation status for the CBTE Specialist Certification Programme from DEFEEST Candidates who successfully complete the assessment in the workplace will be granted the Australian qualification. This is a special programme in Malaysia that provides competency assessment for Instructors, Program Developers and Assessors. A total of 900 candidates have attended this programme since November 1996.

The Human Resource Development Council (HRDC) has approved CEDR as a training provider. Its SME and Special Programme Divisions have appointed CEDR as the Training Provider for their Train the Trainer programmes.

The process included defining performance standards wherever needed with objective to standardise operators’ training & development and assessment system on the operation floor for quality products and services. It also includes the development of Subject Matter Expert facilitators.

Since 1994, CEDR has provided training to over 12,000 participants from more than 100 companies in the following sectors : banking and finance, computer, education and training, electronic and electrical, food, healthcare, hospitality, plantations, property and construction, retail, industrial and telecommunications.

There are many and varied challenges as each customer’s project involves new researched materials before work can be carried out. Most of the time, innovativeness in customizing for clients’ specific purpose(s) is required, resulting in the creation of new models and practice strategies in human resource development.
